Michael Conor Kelley of Belmont MA passed away on February 25, 2024, aged 42. Conor received his early education in the Belmont Public Schools, and graduated from St. Thomas More High School in Oakdale, Connecticut. Conor attended St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after which he was employed for several years at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. It was during that period when Conor began his struggle with the burden of addiction, a struggle which he faced every day with great courage and faith. He was a faithful friend of Bill. Although this burden was a reality in his life, it did not define who he was. Conor was a kind man with a generous heart and engaging smile, always ready to greet a familiar face with a welcoming hug. His goodness and generosity were shown during the last two years when he became the primary caregiver for his 2-year-old cousin Keiran.
Conor was an avid reader, extremely well informed and a devoted fan of all Boston sports teams, as well as Boston College and Notre Dame football. He recently decided to further his education and enrolled at Bunker Hill Community College, where he was on the Dean’s List. Conor was deeply spiritual, and a prayerful person and found great comfort in his association with Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church in Newton. Conor is survived by his mother Maura H. Kelley of Belmont MA, his father Gerald K. Kelley of Sandwich MA, his sister Meaghann K. Toomey and her husband Joseph Toomey and their daughters Clara and Juliet, close family friend Barry M. Goggins of Belmont MA, and numerous other cousins.
Visiting hours will be 4pm-7pm on Friday March 8th at the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home at 36 Trapelo Rd Belmont, MA. The funeral Mass will be held at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes, 270 Eliot Street St, Newton, MA at 11am on Saturday March 9th, followed by a reception. In remembrance of Conor’s life and faith, the family requests any charitable donations be made to Catholic Charities Boston www.ccab.org or donations made to Mary Immaculate Of Lourdes Parish in Conor’s name will be appreciated.
