Nancy R. Lewis - Schulz

Nancy Lewis-Schulz, 59 years old, passed away on March 6, 2021. She will be missed for her wry sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and work ethic. These traits were present in all that she did, and her steadfast commitment to any given endeavor was always apparent to those around her. This included training, riding, and tending to her horses, caring for her dogs, being a gracious hostess, and raising two children, Matthew and Margret. Over the years she adopted and fostered many dogs and cats. 

Nancy, who went by Nan, was the daughter of Gerald (a WWII veteran) and Ruth (an RN) Lewis. She attended Raytown South High School in Missouri and graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder in 1983. She became a paralegal studying at Emory University in Atlanta and covered the Georgia State Legislature for a law firm. Later, she earned an MBA from University of Maryland. After moving to Massachusetts, she started a career in publishing that spanned 30 years. Her work covered local newspapers as well as large publishers and the gamut from editing to producing the final product for high school, college, and technical books. During a 3-year stint on Kwajalein, she edited technical documents. After returning to Massachusetts, Nan became an Editor at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

Nan is survived by her husband of 36 years Peter, children Matthew (Allison) and Margret (Duncan), two grandchildren, Casey and Carter, mother Ruth, siblings Carolyn (Klaus) and Gary (Mary), nieces and nephews Andy, Danja, Katie, and Peter, brother-in-law Stan (Judy), and mother-in-law Rose. She also left behind many friends.
