Marcia (McIntosh) Graham (1939-2023) of Franconia, NH, and formerly of Belmont, MA, died April 12. Marcia is survived by her sister, Jean Thurston; son Charles Graham (Nancy Downer); and granddaughter Charlotte Graham. She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John H. Graham. She welcomed and loved John’s three children: Jeanne, John and Elizabeth.
Marcia grew up in Needham, MA, and attended Wheaton College. Marcia was committed to education. She volunteered at the New England Home for Little Wanderers and worked for the US Army as a teacher in Germany. Marcia returned to Needham where she enjoyed a 30+ year career as an elementary school teacher at the Mitchell and Hillside schools. She also served multiple years as the president of the Needham teacher’s union.
Throughout their marriage, Marcia and John traveled and divided their time between Martha’s Vineyard and Franconia. Marcia was an avid skier, like her husband and son. She was also an active member of the Franconia community and enjoyed her role as a ski ambassador at Cannon Mt, greeting guests and sharing jokes.
Marcia will be remembered as an outgoing, caring, and generous friend— and to many, a hot ticket.
A memorial service will take place on April 29 at the Congregational Church of Needham at 1154 Great Plain Ave., Needham. Please visit with Marcia’s family at 9am in the Fellowship Hall. The service will begin at 10am with a reception immediately following at the church.
