John Serino Obituary

John G. Serino of Concord, formerly of Belmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sep 8th 2022. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Shanley) Serino. Loving father of Elizabeth M. Tanny and her husband Keith of Saratoga Springs, NY, Susan L. Root, and her husband Steve of Cambridge, MA, and Erin M. Serino and her husband Douglas DiCerbo of Lexington, MA. Devoted grandfather of John (Jack) and Sam Tanny, Lucas, Max, Oliver, Ava, and Thayer DiCerbo. Brother of Joan Shute of Aurora, CO, brother-in-law to the late Steve Shute, and uncle to Rachel Hughes and Nick Shute. Brother to the late Robert B. Serino and brother-in-law to Marilyn Serino and uncle to Alison and Amy Serino. John was born on September 6th, 1936, in Cambridge, MA to the late A. John and Lucy Serino, attended Cambridge High and Latin School before enrolling at Tufts University. John served two years of active duty in the US Navy aboard the USS Moale before joining the Navy Reserve where he proudly served for 18 years. Following active duty, John attended Boston University Law School where he wrote for the Law Review. After graduating from Law School John joined Putnam, Bell, Santry, and Ray to work alongside his father before establishing his own firm which in later years he merged with Davis, Malm, and D’Agostine before his retirement. John was an avid boater and loved his time out on the ocean. In retirement, he joined the auxiliary coast guard in Key Largo, FLA. However, the greatest joy of John’s life was being with his family. You didn’t need to speak with John for more than a few minutes to realize how proud he was of them and how much he cherished all the time they spent together. We would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful caregivers and nurses at the Garden’s at Newbury Court in Concord for their compassionate care for John.
