Frederick O’Connor Obituary

Sure shot Freddie, the youngest person in Cambridge history to receive a gun license, died on April 28 at the age of 94. Fredo lived a long and happy life as a Kerry Corner kid living in the same home in which he was born. He was also a retired employee of the City of Cambridge Fire Alarm and a city electrician for 47 years. He was a member of the Polish Club, Hibernians, American Legion, and an Honorary Life Member and former exalted ruler of the Elks 839. Fred was a World War II and Korean War Navy vet and enlisted at the age of 16 after pulling a quick one, something Fred was always known for! Freds love of his life was his wife Doris (Powers) and the adventures and traveling they often embarked upon. They spent many a summer day soaking up the sun and puttering around their second home in Wilmot Flat, New Hampshire, taking mystery rides with the scores of people they hosted, often camping in the yard or sleeping on cots and bunk beds and just enjoying each other's company. Fred spent the end of his life living with his toots Karen Losi, her husband Robert and children Courtney, Michael, and Caitlin. He was a loving and proud Great grandfather of Cora and Tessa and loved by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Brother-in-law Ernie Powers of South Carolina, and sisters-in-law Lorraine Powers of New Hampshire, and Barbara Powers of Somerville. Fred believed that anything could be fixed with just a little duct tape and determination. He was known to give up the “last six bucks” out of his wallet, so in lieu of flowers please take your six bucks and buy someone a nice cold Budweiser, we are sure Fred would approve.
