Dante Della Terza grew up in Sant’ Angelo dei Lombardi near Avellino, In Italy. He went to college in Pisa. Met his American wife Mollie Mcush Della Terza in France and they were married there. They then moved to the States where their children, Grazia and Giorgio were born. He taught at UCLA before moving to Arlington/Cambridge and had a long career as a professor at Harvard University, teaching Italian and European literature.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years Mollie of Arlington and two devoted children Grazia of New York City, who was his daily caretaker in his waning months and Giorgio of Riverside, Ca. As well as his favorite grandson Cal.
Dante was a man of great intellect, and passion for work and life. He was going into his office high atop Widener library 3 times a week up until the Covid shut down March 2020.
He enjoyed interacting with people of all walks of life. He always left a memorable impression that seemed to linger warmly with all those he came across. I personally will be forever buoyed by his love, his gentleness and compassion. But mostly, I’m uplifted, by the daily memory of how much, growing up, he made me laugh. Only he could get me to laugh up snot bubbles.
Rest In Peace carissimo
