Richard La Pierre Obituary

Richard C. (Rick) LaPierre of St. Pete Beach, FL and Hull, MA, formerly of Belmont, MA, passed away surrounded by loving family members on January 10, 2019. He was born in Somerville, MA on March 26, 1950 to Loretta and the late Donald F LaPierre of Belmont, MA.

Rick was an Eagle Scout who graduated from Belmont High School in 1968. He was a true patriot and volunteered soon after graduation to join the U.S. Coast Guard where he served honorably for four years. Rick dearly loved his family, his friends, his country, meatballs, whoopie pies and popcorn.

Rick is survived by his wife Marion Whouley LaPierre of St. Pete Beach, FL and Hull, MA; son Richard LaPierre, wife Jennifer, and granddaughter Olivia; daughter Nicole Rivera, husband Tomas, granddaughter Mia and grandson Ethan of St. Petersburg, FL; by his “Bonus” Whouley children - John, wife Julia, granddaughter Paige and grandson John Neil; Grace; and Freddy of Belmont, MA; and James, wife Stephanie and granddaughter Norah of Watertown, MA; by his devoted mother, Loretta LaPierre of Belmont, MA; also survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Michael and wife Donna, of West Yarmouth, MA; David and wife Debbie of West Newbury MA; Laurie Cohen and husband Jeff of Bedford, MA; and Donna Horgan and brother-in-law Robert Horgan of Waltham, MA; by his former wife, Mary LaPierre of Reddington, FL; and by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, and Aunt Gloria LaPierre.

Ever resilient, Rick’s “never-give-up” energy epitomized his entrepreneurial spirit as he optimistically rolled the dice on numerous business ventures, which ultimately led him to his lifelong passion for helping people where he started BioScience West, a Florida remediation company. The company’s success has had a direct impact on improving countless people’s health.

Rick always wore a smile. He impacted many people’s lives and had an infectious way of making one feel that he genuinely cared about them. Rick will remain in our hearts forever.
